January 21st Tax Seminar "Ontario's Tax Plan for Jobs and Growth" |
The seminar is January 21st, 2010 at the St. John's Parish Centre in Arthur from 10 am to noon. This seminar is FREE and will be presented by Jeremy Bertrand, a Tax Advisory Specialist for the Retails Sales Tax section of the Ministry of Revenue's Tax Advisory Services Branch with over 22 years experience within the Ontario Ministries of Revenue, Finance and Attorney General.

There are 2 ways that you can be involved in this promotion.
In early 2010, the Minto Chamber of Commerce will be launching its Minto Shopping Bag Promotion.
Each household in Minto will receive a reusable shopping bag complete with promotional materials from member businesses offering incentives to shop locally. Nearly 4,000 of these bags will be distributed around the towns and rural areas of Clifford, Harriston, and Palmerston. Any remaining bags will be distributed at various Minto events.
As a member of the Minto Chamber of Commerce, there are 2 exciting ways to be involved in this promotion!

Minto Chamber Provided Two Grants from SDBC |
The Minto Chamber of Commerce has been granted nearly $20,000 to assist with Chamber activities. The first grant is to hire an Intern to act as Promotions Coordinator for the Chamber from December 14th, 2009 thru March 31, 2010. The Promotions Coordinator has been hired and is Caitlin Hall from Harriston.
The 2nd related Grant is for a Local Initiatives Program and will be used to create a Minto First Buy-Local Campaign which includes the following elements:
- Minto Bucks promotion. This program will launch in January and will provide Bucks to be spent exclusively at Minto Chamber Member businesses.
- Shopping bag promotion. This promotion will put a bag into each household in Minto along with incentives to buy-local.
- Public awareness campaign involving several items such as bag stuffers, Christmas tags and promotion via newspapers, flyers, window decals, etc...
These grants were provided by the Saugeen Economic Development Corporation and the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario as part of Canada's Economic Action Plan.
Caitlin Hall owns and operates a seasonal business: Re-Root Organic CSA and has had experience working with non-profit organizations in the past to develop programs that have long term sustainability. Caitlin will be visiting all Chamber Members over the next 3 months and will be working to update the membership directory, educate members on the coming programs and help to promote the benefits of the Minto Chamber of Commerce. |
